Hi, I’m Raven
I began supporting people who use drugs in the 90s when clinical models were all about addiction, and treatments were mostly about abstinence. I had the good fortune to run a South Australian 'Clean Needle Program' and continue working in the sector in my new home, Perth.
There's been some changes over the last decade - really exciting ones as the consumer movement emerged and continues to grow! Other things remain the same.
I've been fortunate to sit on government advisory committees in Western Australia where I've spoken to restrictive practice, alcohol and other drug policy, mental health practices and the creation of a recovery college here in WA at various times in the past decade.
I bring a variety of views to the table in this short course - some of them may be challenging. Enjoy!
